Day 5

Today marked the first day in the history of the Greece trip where we have had multiple days of rain and have had to change our original plan because of it. The locals even told us that the last time they have had this much rain was about 100 years ago!

Our original plan was to wake up on the beach and join Archleon, (the turtle conservation volunteer group) on their morning surveys, swim at the NOKY pool and end the day with a Greek party at Yannis.  Instead we cancelled the surveys (due to the downpour of rain) and checked out Nestors palace and the ancient tholos tombs. Patrick, (one of the locals helping organize the trip), took us on an awesome hike up one of the mountains behind the town of Kyparissia. We ended our day with some time on the beach, where the kids splashed around and played some beach volleyball.

Fingers crossed were through the worst of it and the rain will cooperate for us tomorrow :)

A few highlights today from the students:

Emma- My favorite part about today was Nestors palace because it was fascinating to see a building that was so old, it is the oldest building I have ever seen!!

Alyssa - My favorite part was the hike because even though it was tiring once you got to the top you realized why you did it... the views of the town and the bay below were gorgeous and stunning!!

Rocky - the beach, catching the waves were so much fun!!!

Anna - seeing the gigantic spiders on our hike...
